When someone asked me recently what my vision for 3 to 5 years down the line was, I was stumped momentarily. But the next moment I involuntarily went back to my 10-12 year old self. When I want it to be a writer. I wanted to write books.
Today if I have to re-write that, I would say I want to write books that people read. When I was 10, I took it for granted that people would read any book that was written. Three decades later, I know better. Because in these three and a half decades, it’s not just me who has grown, but the publishing industry itself. There are way more books and writers in 2024 than there were say in 1990. So it is not a given that people would read a book that I write.
But still, if I have to visualize where I would be five years down the line, I see myself as an author.
I feel, and it’s not just a hunch, that one book per year, starting 2024 should be doable. That ways, by 2030 I will have six more books under my belt.
To be honest, it’s not so difficult because these are the books that I already have on my hard disk as work in progress.
- Numbers don’t add up – Book 2, which is my most current WIP
- The School
- Life as I live It
- Flashes from life – Volume II.
But that’s just 4 and those are only fiction. Here are two more that I have been meaning to write, since I published my book on time management – 24 Hours are Enough:
- Time management for students.
- Self-care for working moms
That is now six books.
How difficult can it be to achieve this?
Writing vision is of course the first step, but then that’s not the end of it. I also need to think of how I will get there, but probably that is for some other day.
For today I will visualize what it would feel like when I have 10 books published in my name!!

It is refreshing to know you have envisioned becoming a writer since you were 10! I feel happy that you were able to fulfill your childhood dream.
I hope you make all your visions a reality.
