With the whole nation locked down for a further 21 days, we seem to be in it for the long haul as far as isolation is concerned. Although we witnessed a surge in number of people going out immediately after the announcement by the Prime Minister, today the situation seemed very much in control.
Systems seem to be in place for the lockdown
The district administration in coordination with the police seemed geared up to implement the lockdow. Over the course of the day, these are the steps they have taken, which I have come to know about:
- The vegetable markets have been suspended till further notice, or at least for the next 21 days
- Only medicine shops, grocery stores and milk boots are allowed to be open after 7:30 p.m..
- Lakshmi market has a row of fruit stalls where there is always a crowd of purchases. From tomorrow only the alternate shops are allowed to be open everyday.
- Needy people like the elderly, sick and mothers with small kids will be able to get the essentials home delivered from tomorrow.
Meanwhile, since I wrote the last post, two interesting WhatsApp messages came my way which I cannot help but share with you all:
- Someone shared a newspaper cutting about a coronavirus suspect being found in the city. The message below that was – don’t panic!!
- Jharkhand government put out a report yesterday that till now it has tested 85 people for coronavirus and all of them were negative!!
BTW, they seem to have tested 9 more people today, as we can gather from this report.
Freelancing is as unpredictable as ever
My freelancing career is living up to its expectation of being unpredictable at the most inopportune moments.
Right now when I have my hands full with the whole family at home, I am getting so many work offers, I am having to refuse. Because I cannot take that much load right now.
When I look that these opportunities, most of them were from education and health niches.
Health is understandable considering the Global pandemic but education was a bit surprising. But that was only till I did a bit of research and realised that it was online learning that was gaining traction.
Students and working professionals alike are enrolling in online courses to utilise the time at hand. The e-learning platforms like Byju’s, Coursera, Unacademy,Lynda, etc. are upping their game by offering their courses for free over the next couple of weeks.
Well, as a parent I am not complaining and as a freelance writer I am not complaining either.
Over to you
How was has been your day like in the lockdown. Whether it was a fun moment or a harrowing one, we are here to go through it with you. Share them here.
